Personal trainer jobs in Singapore

Catalyst Performance hires certified personal trainers for its 1:1 studio at Manulife Tower, Singapore CBD. The job is coaching, not floor sales: clients arrive through the studio's marketing, programmes are built off a measured assessment, and coaches are developed by a founding team that has trained hundreds of trainers. Apply through the form below with your CV and certifications.

01

The job is coaching

One coach, one client, sixty minutes

Catalyst is an appointment-only 1:1 studio at Manulife Tower in the Singapore CBD. Every session is one coach with one client, programmed off the four-pillar Catalyst Healthspan Assessment and re-tested every 16 weeks. There is no group timetable, no crowded floor, and no membership sales model. You coach, you programme, you measure whether it worked. If the reason you became a personal trainer was the craft, this is the version of the job where the craft is the whole job.

02

Who we hire

Certified, coachable, serious about standards

We are always looking for good personal trainers with good character and a good personality. The roster holds certifications across ACE, NASM, PTA Global, strength and conditioning, rehab, NeuroKinetic Therapy, and pre and post natal work, alongside competitive athletes with international podium records. We hire experienced coaches who want a higher standard, and high-potential coaches we can develop. What every hire shares: technical honesty about their own coaching, and an interest in evidence over trend cycles.

03

You get developed here

Founder-led education, not an induction deck

Between them the founders carry two decades in the Singapore industry. Bervin Manoharan has hired, trained and mentored hundreds of trainers, managers and leaders across the industry. Dr Luqman Haris, an MBBS-trained doctor, led trainer education at one of Singapore's largest gym chains before designing Catalyst's training systems, and signs off every programme framework. Joining Catalyst means your coaching gets reviewed, sharpened and certified against that standard, continuously, not once at onboarding.

04

The clientele is the reward

Clients who stay for years, not challenges

Catalyst clients are professionals in their 30s and beyond training for healthspan, not a 12-week photo. They arrive through the studio's own marketing and the complimentary assessment, so your hours fill with people who already value coaching. Retention is measured in years. For a coach, that means depth: you see the same bodies across Checkpoints and get to do the long-horizon work most commercial settings never allow.

05

Coming from a commercial gym

The part of the job you keep, and the part you drop

Most coaching CVs in Singapore start on a commercial gym floor, and that is a good place to learn volume, pace and how to hold a room. What it rarely gives you is time: the model pays on packages sold, so the calendar fills with prospecting and the coaching itself gets squeezed. Coaches who move here keep the floor-earned fluency and drop the selling. If you are scanning gym and fitness jobs in Singapore and what you actually want is more coaching hours per week rather than more leads per week, that is the trade this studio is built around.

Questions coaches ask us

Is the role full-time or commission-based?

Both exist. Catalyst runs a full-time employed plan, which carries employer CPF and statutory leave, and a commission-only coaching contract. Which one fits is part of the interview conversation and depends on the hours you want and the client load you can hold. Rates are set individually and are not published.

What qualifications do I need to apply for a personal trainer job at Catalyst?

A recognised personal training certification (ACE, NASM, PTA Global or equivalent) and the ability to coach 1:1 to a high technical standard. Specialist certifications the roster already carries, pre and post natal, rehab, NeuroKinetic Therapy, strength and conditioning, are valued but not required at entry. Coaching craft and the willingness to be developed matter more than a long certificate list.

Do Catalyst trainers have to sell memberships or hit sales targets on the floor?

No. Catalyst has no memberships to sell and no walk-in floor to prospect on. Clients arrive through the studio's own marketing and the complimentary Catalyst Healthspan Assessment. Coaches are hired to coach; the consultation and programme conversation is part of the craft, but there is no commercial-gym floor-sales model here.

What is the pay for a personal trainer at Catalyst Performance?

Compensation is set individually and discussed at interview, based on experience, certifications, and client load. We do not publish figures. What we can say publicly: the model rewards coaching quality and client retention, not sign-up volume.

Do you hire fitness instructors or group class coaches?

Not at present. Catalyst runs no group timetable and no class floor, so there is no fitness instructor role to fill. Every session is one coach with one client. Group and class instructors do move into 1:1 coaching well, and applications are read on coaching craft rather than job title, so a strong instructor who wants to work 1:1 is worth applying.

What does a personal trainer earn in Singapore?

Across the Singapore market, pay is usually a mix of a base and a commission tied to package sales, which is why income swings with the sales cycle rather than with coaching quality. Catalyst does not run that model and does not publish its own figures; compensation is set individually at interview against experience, certifications and client load. The structural difference matters more than any single number: there are no memberships to sell here, so earnings are not a function of how hard you close.

How do I become a personal trainer in Singapore?

Start with a recognised certification (ACE, NASM, PTA Global or an equivalent with a practical assessment), then get supervised coaching hours behind you, because certification teaches the syllabus and clients teach the craft. In Singapore most coaches begin in a commercial gym for volume, then move to a studio for depth. If you are early in that path, apply anyway and say so. We hire high-potential coaches we can develop, not only finished ones.

How do I apply for a personal trainer job in Singapore with Catalyst?

Use the application form on this page and attach your CV (PDF or Word). It is the only way to apply, and it lands in the founders' own inbox with your CV attached, not a recruitment agency's. Every application is read by the people who would be developing you, and you get an acknowledgement the moment it arrives.

Before you apply, read how the studio thinks: the Catalyst approach, why the studio exists, and the coaches you would join.
