Overview
Teenagers · Supervised 1:1 · Singapore CBD
Catalyst Performance trains teenagers 1:1 at Manulife Tower, directly above Telok Ayer MRT, in an appointment-only studio with no open-gym crowd. Every session is run by one named coach, a parent may sit on the floor for any session, and the teenager's data is held under the parent's consent only. Loading is done on Keiser pneumatic resistance, which changes in 1 kg steps without a plate, so a 14 year old progresses at the pace their pattern allows. There is no Healthspan Score under 18: the four assessment tests run as a movement baseline, not a ranking.
Most parents arrive with two questions. Is strength training safe for a growing body, and who exactly is in the room? The first has a thirty-year evidence base and a clear answer: supervised, progressive resistance training is safe and beneficial for adolescents, and the injuries in the literature come from unsupervised lifting and poor technique, not from load itself. The second is answered by how the studio is built. One coach, one teenager, a floor you can see end to end, and a parent's chair by the window.
We work with teenagers who play a school or club sport and need the strength base their coach cannot build in a team session, and with teenagers who do not play sport and want to learn to train properly the first time. For the adult athletes in the household, the same method runs on our sports performance page; for the full credential picture of the coaching team, see our strength and conditioning coaches.
