Ronald

Personal Trainer, CATALYST Performance

Ronald's coaching is shaped by two things most personal trainers do not have: elite athletic experience, and a first-hand understanding of serious injury and rehabilitation. He previously played professional handball with the Yamanashi Kofu Handball Team in Japan and served as Vice-Captain of the Singapore National Handball Team — an environment that instilled the discipline, structural rigour, and respect for the process that define how he now coaches.

In Olympic weightlifting, he has competed at local level and achieved 1st Runner-Up in the Singapore Weightlifting Open (Under 89kg) in 2022. That technical background — where millimetres of bar path and precise sequencing determine whether a lift succeeds — translates directly into his approach to programming. Movement quality and proper progression are non-negotiable, not aspirational.

Having undergone three knee surgeries himself, Ronald has experienced the setback of injury and the deliberate, structured work required to rebuild. That experience gives him a coaching lens that most trainers are not able to offer: a genuine understanding of what clients going through injury recovery face, and what a well-designed programme needs to account for. He works with clients at all stages — from building foundational strength, to navigating training around physical limitations, to developing the kind of technical precision that produces lasting results.
